Korean Climate Data Navigator¶
A one-stop guide for atmospheric, ocean, sea-ice, land, polar and remote-sensing researchers: where each dataset comes from, how to download it, the period it covers, which variables it offers, what to cite, and the latest discontinuation and change notices.
This site does not host any data. Every entry links to the official source. 138 datasets are documented so far (atmosphere 35 · ocean 37 · sea ice 18 · land 30 · satellite 85; some appear under two domains).
Forecast and projection data — subseasonal-to-seasonal (S2S) and seasonal forecasts, CMIP climate model simulations and more — will be added over time. To hear when they arrive, leave your email address via Feedback and we will let you know.

The Korean Climate Data Navigator is an unofficial project run by an individual and does not represent the views of the maintainer's employer or of any data provider. All information reflects the date it was checked and may change — always re-check DOIs, citation formats, periods and variable definitions against the official sources before using them in a paper or report.

Who the Navigator is for¶
- Modelers who use reanalysis as initial and boundary conditions and need to know when an input dataset stops updating or changes
- Researchers looking for the right dataset for a specific analysis
- Anyone checking whether a dataset is still maintained or has been superseded by a newer version
- Researchers comparing several datasets side by side or cross-checking results
- Researchers from outside atmospheric, ocean, sea-ice or land science who need climate data and want to learn what is available and how to use it
How to use this site¶
- Choosing a dataset — browse the Atmosphere · Ocean · Sea ice · Land · Satellite menus, then put several candidates side by side in Compare datasets.
- Looking for a variable — type "precipitation" or "2 m temperature" into Find by variable to list every dataset that has it.
- Using a variable — check the instantaneous · mean · accumulated badge next to each variable and the "time-stamp convention" box. Two "3-hourly" products can mean very different things.
- Downloading — follow "How to get the data" and the example code on each dataset page.
- Writing a paper — copy the citation text and BibTeX from "References for your paper" on each dataset page.
- Moving to a newer product — Generation changes explains what changed from the previous generation and what to watch out for.
- Not missing a change — Notice alerts emails you new notices for the datasets and severity levels you choose.
- Missing a dataset? — tell us via Suggest a dataset.
